Old Iron Doors Create Custom Made Iron Front Doors
The front door on most houses is made of wood. But for a select few, the choice is iron. Iron front doors are a creative option to the regular wood options. One company that makes iron doors is Old Iron Doors. The doors are constructed out of 14 inches of gauged steel with 1/2 to 3/4 inch of iron added for the decoration aspects. They are also fully insulated with thermal foam to provide a barrier of extra protection. Since the doors are heavy, they come with barrel hinges that contain ball bearings and grease. The hinges are also welded on each of it sides for more durability.
Old Iron Doors are welded mostly on the inside for a more finished looks. All of the welding is SAE certified. After welding, the painting process consists of five steps. The first is an acid wash. Then a layer of anti-corrosion protection is added. This is followed by two base coats. After which, the final finish is baked on. The iron front door also contains a window pain that can be accessed without opening the door itself. One option available for the window glass is a high-impact laminated glass.
The door frames have a 1/2 inch flat bar which maintains the stability of the door frame during shipping and provides a platform for installing the door frame to the floor. The frames are squared and leveled prior to placement of hinges and have less than a 1/4 inch tolerance level. The squaring and leveling process ensures a smooth door operation.
